Today’s new pet owners are usually referred to as pet parents. They are often millennials embracing their first new family member - a beloved cat or dog - with huge enthusiasm. Their knowledge and expectations on animal health care are different to previous generations. With that in mind, we as professionals working in this field we can choose the easy way - work in the same way we’ve always done - or we can choose a more proactive way and learn more about them, what makes them tick and how they prefer to communicate.

This international half-day Livestreamed meeting will give you the latest knowledge on topics presented and discussed with several top specialists. The online format allows us to think big! On top of the keynote speakers, there will also be inspiring discussions with fellow vets and nurses from around Europe. Take the opportunity to join the meeting together with your colleagues. This is a digital meeting Livestreamed from a studio in Sweden.
Details of how to join the Livestream will be sent to you one day before the event takes place. To get the best streaming experience, make sure your wifi connection is good.

Does it cost anything?
No! Ceva invites you and your colleagues for free. 

How many hours of CPD will I complete?
The whole event will provide 4 hours of valuable CPD. A digital certificate will be available for download after the event.

Can I watch the Livestream more than once?
Our engaging moderator will be with us throughout the event, talking to several Derma specialists and asking you polling questions, so it will most certainly be an inspiring afternoon, but don't worry... If you can not join the Livestream on the 28th we will provide all registered participants with links to recorded sessions that will be available until February 2022.

Will I get any material after the meeting?
Yes, we will digitally share relevant material and "Take Home Messages" from the speakers after the meeting with all registered participants. You will also be able to download a certificate of participation.

Dr Natalie Marks
DVM, CVJ

Meeting the expectations of the newgeneration of Pet Owners. Let´s go digital!

The new pet parents - the millennials - are in many ways challenging! During this presentation, Natalie will focus on what they expect in terms of interactions (especially in the area of dermatology). To do that you have to dig deep and really understand how they process information. She will then present multiple different digital options that meet their expectations at the same time as these tools also are helping you, as vet and nurse, to practice the very best medicine for this patient group.

Natalie is a practicing veterinarian, previous owner of the largest small animal hospital in Chicago, media expert, certified veterinary journalist, industry consultant and national and international educator. She has worked for several years educating practicing veterinarians and veterinary technicians in many areas of veterinary medicine, surgery and now practice management as a monthly columnist in Today's Veterinary Business. Natalie is also a consultant for many industry partners, helping bridge the gap between new product and process launches and the utilization and workflow modifications needed on the "front lines" in practice.

RCVS & EBVS ® European Veterinary Specialist in Behavioural Medicine

Approaching dermatology cases with behaviour in mind

Dermatology is a veterinary discipline which highlights the link between emotional and physical health. This presentation will illustrate the importance of considering emotional health when investigating and treating dermatology patients. The links between emotional state and dermatological disease within the context of diagnosing and managing these conditions will be discussed. In addition, the importance of understanding the patient’s emotional motivations when performing clinical examinations and applying topical treatments will also be considered.

Dr Sarah Heath

Sarah qualified as a veterinary surgeon from Bristol University in 1988 and set up Behavioural Referrals Veterinary Practice in 1992. She sees clinical cases across North West England and wider afield through video platform consultations. In 2018 she was made an FRCVS for meritorious contributions to the profession in recognition of her work in establishing Behavioural Medicine as a veterinary discipline. Sarah is an External Lecturer in small animal behavioural medicine on the veterinary undergraduate course at Liverpool University. In 2019 she gained her Postgraduate Certificate in Veterinary Education. Sarah has a special interest in the interplay between emotional and physical illness in dogs and cats.

Emma Lindblad Åström
DVM

Good communication gives great success in many ways

Emma will focus on communication with pet owners and how we may cope with the many challenges that occur especially when it comes to detailed dermatology treatments. Emma will join us in the studio along with a dog parent.

Emma Lindblad Åström

Emma graduated as a veterinary surgeon from Uppsala University in 2009 and has been working in small animal practice since then. She is a practicing veterinarian and the head veterinarian at AniCura Västra Djursjukhuset, a small animal hospital on the westcoast of Sweden. On her clinical days she does mainly dermatology, both first line and referal cases. Along side of this she´s doing a master in dermatology with ESAVS. Before Emma knew that the veterinary field was her path she studied media and comunication at the university and this is still a area that she finds very interesting and very useful in her daily work as a veterinarian.

Kerstin, Cecilia and Elisabeth, representing Evidensia, will address the many advantages of working in strong derma teams. To take good (skin) care of the pet and keep pet owners of today as loyal customers is a challenge that all clinics struggle with - so what can we learn from this successful derma team?

Kerstin Bergvall
Kerstin graduated 1981 at Uppsala University in Sweden. She is a Swedish specialist in Dermatology for Dog & Cat, ECVD Diplomate and mentor of residents in dermatology. Her main focus for research within dermatology is on immune mediated skin diseases. Kerstin is the head of the dermatology team at Evidensia Södra Djursjukhuset and also works at the Swedish University of Agriculture where she is responsible for dermatology training (small animals and equines).

Trine is a highly acknowledged energizer whom we've had the pleasure of working with at several other Ceva events. She has moderated and lectured at various venues around the world and is sure to lead us through the afternoon with her usual great energy and professionalism.

Trine Grönlund

Her busy career includes years of working experience across Europe and 12 long years within the IT business in New York.
